RoadRunner Tours

Simple "tulip" diagrams with accurate distances (in miles and kilometres between the tulip waypoints) and detailed
route descriptions (in either English or German, your choice!) plus colour photocopies of the relevant maps will be supplied
to guide you easily around the Tour, with the possibility to shorten the distance between overnight stops on more direct
roads (in the unlikely event of difficulties with your car, or just laziness), interspersed with "non-travelling"
days in the most interesting areas to allow more detailed exploration or relaxation. ![]()
A Roadrunner (or more correctly, Geococcyx californiana ) is a slender bird with a bushy crest and a long, sturdy
tail and streaked plumage. Between 20 and 24 inches (50 to 60 cms) long, it lives in grasslands, brushy areas, deserts, and
open woodlands, between sea level and 7,500 feet (2,300 meters) above sea level in the south-western United States and Mexico,
in partly arid or dry open places where there are scattered pinyons, junipers, cactuses and rocks to provide cover. During
the extreme heat of the day, they will seek shade and be more active during cooler times. They prey on insects, lizards,
gophers, mice, bird eggs, scorpions, rattlesnakes, grasshoppers, crickets, tarantulas, plus fruit and seeds.
