Imagine my surprise and delight when I saw a 1995 Ford Mustang GT Coupe in chrome yellow for sale on eBay !!
This car was not for sale on www.ebay.com (since although the chrome
yellow is one of the rarest colours, they still appear every now and again), but on
www.ebay.de - and this Mustang had been imported and reregisted in
Germany as long ago as 1997 (before all the silly regulations came into force), so we wouldn't have to go through any of the
turmoil of importing the car ourselves from the USA, as we did with our
chrome yellow 1998 Ford SVT Cobra Mustang convertible. Additionally, this
car has had only two previous owners (it was part of a husband / wife divorce settlement, and consequently had been deregistered
and stored since February 2004) !!
Obviously, I simply had to bid on this car, and having won the auction on 24th December 2005, we had to wait until the roads
were free of white slippery stuff before we could drive to Basdorf (just 25 kms north of Berlin) to pay for and collect the
Mustang. We finally did this over the weekend of 7th and 8th January 2006
(click here for the sightseeing pictures that we took in Berlin then) -
and on the 392 mile (631 kms) return drive home, the Mustang GT averaged 30.01 mpg (9.47 litres / 100 km) at a steady 80 mph
(130 kph).
Here are the pictures that the dealer (Norbert Jauner of US Cars, Basdorf) took before we bought the Mustang GT from him ....
This particular car has lowered springs, K&N air filter, a tuned exhaust, short-throw gearchange, plus Kumbo Ecstra
275/40ZR tyres on 17" rims.
The 1994 and 1995 Mustang GTs had the cast-iron 5.0 litre (302 cu.in) engine that produces 215 bhp. With the K&N air
filter and tuned exhaust system, about 225 bhp should be available.
The interior is sumptuously appointed with air conditioning, leather seats, twin airbags, power windows, power drivers seat,
Mach 460 hi-fi sound system with radio/cassette, plus cruise control.
I recently took the following pictures of the Mustang GT ....
