08:00 departure for a shorter tour, to include a visit to a candle factory (who will be manufacturing
a limited production run of only 70 candles with the ORC logo), a brewery (who will be filling a limited production run of
bottles with the ORC logo on the label) and a tradesman museum (with a wood-burning oven to bake a 1 lb loaf of fresh bread
for every participant to take home). At 14:00 we will return to Waldmünchen, where we will be greeted by a 45-strong
historic fanfare procession and will continue in convoy to the Market Square in the pedestrian precinct, where the cars will
be parked for display. During this time, we will be served cakes and coffee, before returning to the hotel at 16:45, just in
time to freshen up for a warm buffet in a historic restaurant at 19:30, followed by a regional cold buffet at 22:00.
Inge Lüth searches for the engine in her Bugatti 35B replica ....
.... whilst Yan Türk and Zhou take advantage of the huge storage space under the bonnet to prepare for chilly weather.
Karl-Heinz Klameth makes a few routine checks on his Porsche 356 Speedster replica.
The Bugatti 35B of Axel Weber and Beate Kempf is dwarfed behind the lovely Mercedes 500K Heritage replica of Alois and
Beatrix Hoppen.
Incidentally, the Bayerisch Hof Hotel provided reserved covered car parking spaces for every car!
After a short drive, again in convoy ....
.... we arrived at our next stop ....
.... the Malterer Christmas Factory.
After a welcoming drink (of either champagne or orange juice), we began our tour of the halls, where Christmas presents and
items are manufactured and stored.
It seemed strange looking at Christmas trees when the temperatures were in the high 20s°C with bright sunshine outside.
Alongside traditional models of Santa Claus ....
.... and slightly less traditional ones ....
.... were these penguins, all wrapped up against the cold.
This looked more like an Easter scene ....
.... with cockerels and rabbits.
Then there were the clowns ....
.... the performing mice ....
.... unusual candles ....
.... and assorted toys.
After the factory tour, there was time to look at some more of the ORC cars outside ....
.... and all the instruments, dials and switches on the Viper dashboard were clarified once again.
The dashboard on the Bugatti was very simple in comparison !
Time to move on again ....
.... along more superb country lanes.
A large number of enthusiastic motorbike riders raced ahead of the car convoy, to guide us at every turn-off and block the
junction from other traffic, successfully keeping the convoy on track and together. Well done, guys, you did an excellent
job, which was especially difficult in the rain on Friday morning !
Throughout the meeting, the bugle was sounded as a 5 minute alarm, and again 1 minute before it was time to drive on to the next location.
